revisiting naps

This is Luke snoozin' away on the the way home from Rollingstone on Saturday afternoon. We met Deeda there since it's only 20 minutes from home! A co-worker of hers at the Revenue lives in Rollingstone and her daughter recently got married so they had a little picnic at the Rollingstone City Park. It was alot of fun, the park is great! Lots of old fashioned equipment and super tall slides. Today was Luke's first day of Park & Rec camp at Holzinger Lodge! There seemed to be lots of familiar little faces, to me anyways, hopefully to him as well. He enjoyed it alot, even told me they "went on a hike and saw a daddy long legs !" It's gardening theme, so they all planted something in an old shoe. It's only 2 hours long. Emily and I went to Target for some empty bottles for our camping toiletry bag (only 13 more days until our first trip this summer!) and then went to the library so she could do a group thing for kids 6-8. I got a wild hair to start "summertime quiet time" today. Seemed like the perfect day, it was raining. Luke has been pretty tired come late afternoon/evening this summer so far. Falling asleep in the living room and then being a huge crab ass when he wakes up. So today, we went up to try and nap around 1:30pm(he hasn't napped for over a year, so this concept is new again to him.) After almost an hour of tossing, turning and especially talking, he fell asleep for 2.5 hours! I actually had to go wake him before 5pm to get ready for swim lessons. And, he was happy as a clam! Emily even had a bit of quiet reading time in her bed, maybe someday she'll fall asleep too if she gets an extra busy morning in. The downside to napping again is he was pretty comfortable being awake after 9 tonight. But, he was asleep soon enough. I know they won't nap everyday, but on the days that we aren't doing much in the afternoons, we'll try! And week #2 of swim lessons went great too. Emily's class really works her hard, going back and forth the long distance. She sticks close to the wall in case she needs a break. I'm loving the instructer/swimmer ratio in her class, 2 instructers and 3 girls! It sorta makes up for Luke's 9 (!) in his class. He loves doing the Monkey Crawl around the whole pool!
