Nightime

Luke's first night in his bed went great! This is him before I went to wake him the next morning, such a sweetie. Second night....not as much. He was up a few times, therefore I missed a lot of Nip/Tuck, but I'll forgive him! These are some pictures of the kids last night having some fun in the bunk bed. They found a new favorite reading spot, the top bunk! Emily slept in the top bunk for the first time last night. She was so excited!

Bunk Beds

Luke loves his new bed. His reasoning for getting a big bed is because "I not a baby....I a KID!" I'm sure we'll have a 'first night' update tomorrow!

Really...now?

With brand new carpet? This is how I found Luke in the bathroom. He had taken off his pants and diaper and was yelling to me...."How you do this?.... I can't get my pee-pee in!....I won't pee on the floor, serious, I won't Mom!"

I guess it's a start.

Boo!

Luke made a foot print ghost at the library this morning! Cute, huh?

Way to Go Emily!

We got a nice letter over the weekend from WAPS! Emily was one of about 100 kids chosen out of all the WAPS elementary schools (6!) to receive a Winona Winhawks embroidered jacket. Pretty neat. Of course, we think she's a great kid, but it's nice to hear others think so too!

a good run...

Luke had fun helping Daddy take apart his crib this morning! He has been anxious to "cut up my crib" all week, even tried to go downstairs to get a saw. I think he's excited for his big boy bed! It's sad to see the crib go down though, it's been loved for over 5 years. Hopefully someday we'll have grandbabies sleeping in it! And yes, I have purposely turned these last pictures of Luke in his room a different color, I'm not revealing it until his room is all done!

Jump!

Last night was Luke's last night in his crib. I told him he could jump before bed, so he did! He loves looking at himself in the mirror.

Cleaned, but not carved...

We were going to carve our pumpkins tonight, but the carving knife broke while I was cutting out the 2nd top! Bummer. So all we did tonight is clean them out. Stay tuned for this years pumpkin creations!

cute school stuff...

I think they must have taken these pictures to use with the "You're the Apple of My Eye because...." project.
She had to bring in items, or find pictures, of things that start with the letters of her name. Her and I paged through 2 Parents magazines and she found the E, M and I, but I helped her with the y0-yo. And it's Lab, not Dog :)

This one almost brought tears to my eyes! She did so good drawing her Halloween costume, didn't even forget the W!

Spring, Winter, and Fall!
It's so fun seeing her school work. She has to show me everything! I can't believe how much her reading has improved in just the short time she's been in school. Dave and I are looking foward to her first conferences in November!

Luke and his cold

Poor Luke has been fighting a cold for almost a week now! I think it was last Thursday he started coughing.

He had a miserable Monday and was running a fever in the 101s, but it went down on it's own.

He's been watching alot of Dora, Diego, and Max & Ruby. And of course, Toy Story and Monster House. And I make sure he has his thermos at all times with ice water or apple juice. He doesn't have much of an appetite though. I made baked ziti last night, one of his favorites, and he didn't eat much.

Tuesday he was still coughing alot, but....

I did get lots of smiles out of him! He seemed to be feeling better later in the day, he was asking to call lots of people so he dialed up Uncle Nathan and Papa to chat.

And after a quiet night with not too many coughs, he wakes up coughing again today! Bummer. But no fever, so that's at least hopeful. We'll see what the rest of the day brings. It's raining and extremely gloomy out, so a good day to be in. We had a painter scheduled to come today to paint the upstairs stairway where I can't reach, but he cancelled because he's sick too!

Thanks Deeda!

Spooky and Ulee got mail yesterday! Deeda made them each new beds. Spooky jumped in one right away. Ulee is weird and likes to lay in places like the basement bathroom floor and other undesirable spots. But this morning I found him in his new bed!

Haircut

These were on the way to the pumpkin patch last weekend, he was rubbing his head back and forth on the carseat and making his hair full of static!

The kids went in for trims last week. They love getting haircuts and actually ask for them! I can't imagine trying to hold down a screaming kid for a haircut. Now Luke can see again. He's been hanging on to a nasty cold since last Thursday/Friday. Just a snotty, coughing mess. No fevers *knock on wood*. Emily had something similar earlier in the week, but it didn't get too bad. I'm not sure if I should quit reading/watching the news or what, but this H1N1 is getting scary. A few weeks ago I was probably not going to get the kids vaccinated, but I think my mind has been changed. It doesn't look like our clinic is getting them until early to mid November, so when Emily goes in for her yearly check up, we'll have to see what's up. I hate this part of parenting. Can't I just hide the kids away forever and not let anything hurt them?

The Enchanted Forest

Yesterday, the kids and I went over to Lacrosse for the Hixon Enchanted Forest. They had fun! I did like it better last year since you walk through more actual woods at the old Hixon center and the characters weren't spaced apart so far. Emily's favorite was Cruella Deville from 101 Dalmations and the Wizard of Oz crew, Dorothy, the Good Witch and the Scarecrow.

Starting the walk....Luke really likes people in animal costumes. So when this Otter took off her head to chat with some fellow workers shortly after we were passed, Luke kept looking back shocked that she did that. Good timing Otter.
