Kindergarten round-up!

We visited Emily's elementary school for Kindergarten round up yesterday and met her teacher. The school is nice and quaint, super small, only 80 some kids....in the whole school. It's just a one-section school, meaning one class per grade, K-4. It's only 4 blocks away, so walking distance for sure and it's a neighborhood school, so pretty much all the kids live in our 'neighborhood'. The staff seems very friendly and it's the type of place where everyone knows everyones name! Community Education is also housed in the building. This years K class only has 13 kids, but so far 23 kids were signed up for K round up for the '09/10 school year. But, not necessarily will all 23 kids choose to go there come time to start. Her teacher was nice. She wasn't what Dave and I were expecting, but not in a bad way! The school secretary is the wife of a customer from Napa that Dave knows....helloooooo small town! The teacher read a story to the kids that were there, must have been farm themed this week. The book was cute, the teacher was asking the kids what some of the animal noises were as she was going through the book....Emily looked at us like "What the hell, my 2 year old brother knows this stuff!?!?!" The room was really cute, recently remodeled I guess. It seemed fairly preschool-ish, so I hope Emily's 3 years of preschool isn't going to backfire on us and she becomes bored. Other than that, it seems to be a good choice for us. Now if this weather would cooperate, we could get on with our new adventure...no training wheels!

Oh, and for an Emily funny from the other night....Luke was being a typical 2 year old and bothering the heck out of poor Em who just wanted to be left alone. She finally started yelling at him and I said "Just ignore him!" Her response... "I don't know how to!"

Dress up!

The girl sure loves her swimsuits, dresses, cover-ups, leotards, crowns and accessories! Usually, first thing she does after getting out of school clothes is get into a swim suit or leotard...with the perfect shoes of course! A few weekends ago she found a pair of high heels on clearance in the girls shoes at Kohls. They are a black corduroy stacked wedge heel with tiny pink polka dots. It's very obvious why they were so cheap :D Best $6 spent! Until she rolls an ankle or falls down the stairs with them I suppose...

The Lake...August, 2007 (Sandy Beach)

In 2007 we tried out Sandy Beach....it was pretty nice, minus the few days of flushing toilets with lake water and no lights! A bad storm came through and we lost power. Despite that, we still had lots of fun! Emily was almost 4 and Luke was 6 months...

Going fishing!

Setting the table!

Having homemade ice cream when Great Grandma Helen visited.

Em and Daddy swimming!

Deeda and Great Grandma Helen (Susan's mom who lives in Brainerd)

The Lake...June, 2006 (Pinehurst)

For the past 3 years, Deeda has treated us to a wonderful week up on Gull Lake in Brainerd during the summer! I figured I'd document them here! Emily was 2.5 on this trip...Luke was cookin' :D Thanks Deeda, we have so much fun and the memories for the kids are so special.

Her first boat ride! She wasn't too impressed.

We spent some time at Paul Bunyan land...

Getting her sucker from the candy store!
