"Do you wuv' it Mom?"

I told Logan to paint the dots the same color.  And he did just that, painted the dots.  Logan has emerged from the flu, fairly unscathed.  Last Thursday he finally started to eat a little and gradually got better Friday and over the weekend.  He didn't seem quite himself though and on Tuesday night, spiked a fever again and was feeling pretty crummy.  I took him in and he had an ear infection.  I guess a "secondary" infection after the flu is pretty common.  As of now, he's pretty good.  I need to do some catch up on the blog, but this will be it for tonight.  Luke came down with a short 24 hour type fever bug Sunday to Monday.  I thought he was getting what Logan had, but he came out of it quickly.  Luckily, school was cancelled Monday anyways or he probably would have had to stay home.  Luke has a big week coming up.... he starts private and group swim lessons tomorrow and during the week (he will learn to swim this year!) , a science fair project and a birthday!

The Flu

 Logan has the flu.  We are on day 5, so hopefully on the upswing.  He's actually gotten off the couch today.  He hasn't really eaten anything since Saturday.  Living off of OJ and water.  When we got home from Em's swim meet on Saturday, I went to lay him down for a nap and he seemed extra tired and had the boys' infamous glossy eyes (when they don't feel well).  He had a fever that night and the cough/runny nose/runny eyes started in the night.  Sunday he seemed ok, not really a fever but the lingering cough, etc.  Monday morning he seemed fine, a little cough.  We left for preschool and he had diarrhea on the way :(  And again about 8 times after we turned around and went home.  He went downhill after that.  Fevers (although not really high, just to the point of being uncomfortable), lots of coughing, diarrhea and not moving a muscle.  We're on nearly 48 hours straight of Disney Jr.  Today he had moments of perkiness, so hopefully he's getting better.  Stella is loving the constant couch companion though.

 On a brighter note, Logan started preschool after Christmas break!  His first 2 days were already cancelled because of the cold and now he's missing this whole week, but the times he has went, he's loved it!  He was devastated that we couldn't go in on Monday.  Big tears.  His teacher emailed me these from his first week.

Washington Island

One day, while in Door County, we drove up to Northpoint Pier and hopped a ferry bound for Washington Island.  It was about a 30-40 min. ride.  We were one of the first ones there in the morning!

After driving off the ferry, our first stop was The Danish Mill http://danishmill.com/ .  I read they have good almond bars.  And they do!  So after coffee and some breakfast treats, we started the drive around the island.  There is another smaller ferry boat that takes people (only on foot or bike) up to Rock Island State Park.  We stopped there and looked around.

We finally made it about half way around the island and found Schoolhouse Beach.  

Rocks, rocks and more rocks!  And a hefty fine if you take one of the smooth, polished beauties.  So tempting though....paperweight anyone?   Not a speckle of sand in sight.  Beautiful beach and so clear.  One of only 5 beaches of it's kind!

Emily was the only one I let brave the waters.  It wasn't a nice, sandy, gradual beach like the mainland, so I was hesitant letting the non-swimmers in.  

After the beach, we found the WI Farm Museum.  Quaint museum... old stuff, a few animals, etc.  

Next, we were on the watch for Mountain Park & Lookout tower.  There are a series of long steps to actually get up to the tower.  No pictures going up, just down.

After the lookout, we drove for a bit until we came to the Jacobsen Museum http://washingtonisland-wi.com/jacobsen-museum/.  The lady working the museum is showing Emily all the tiny wooden doll furniture.

There was a couple from California that Logan and I were chatting with outside.  He asked Logan if he liked animals.  Logan said yes, so he went to his trunk and came out with this furry, puppet of some kind of animal.  It was cute.  

There is a short trail that leads to Little Lake with a small, restored log cabin with a mannequin of Jens Jacobsen inside.  

Then we got back on the road, almost making a full circle around the island.  We stopped at the Albatross Drive In http://albatrossdrivein.com/ for an early dinner.  Dave and I had their famous "Alby burgers."  Pretty much the best burger ever.   Nice big picnic tables and a cute sandbox and toys for the kiddos!

We had about an hour before needed to head to the ferry, so we sought out Sand Dunes Park.  Sandy trail out to a beach area.  Not really good for swimming though!  Just admiring the soft, white sand.

On the way back, we set out to find Ellison Bluff Natural Area.  Lots of tree covered dirt roads to get to the observation deck and trails.  If we would have stayed a little longer, we would have seen a better sunset, but definitely an area where you want daylight to drive in!
