just cause we laughed...

Luke and I warming up his pancakes this morning...

Luke:  I want to put the syrup on!
Me:  Ok, go get it in the cabinet.
Luke:  We don't have a cabinet! and Me: (kind of at the same time) I mean the pantry.
Luke: Cabinets are houses in the woods.

cheerios

It was a Cheerios kind of supper last night, Logan had his first own bowl....  Tonight it's Cup of Soup and Gatorade for the little guy :(

the stomach bug

What a difference 36-48 hours make!  This was Emily yesterday.  Our house got hit with the stomach flu Wednesday night.  First Emily (although she seems better today!) and now baby Logan :(  Actually, it could have been Luke first, since he was sick a week ago tonight, but his seemed different.  One puke and all better.  Emily had a fever and "other end" issues too.  At least it's before (and hopefully will be done) school starts back up!  Who will succumb next?  Only time will tell.....

Gingerbread houses

We spent Thursday over at the Baumbich's making gingerbread houses and catching up.  Once school starts and kids activities begin full force, we do not nearly see enough of eachother!

Merry Christmas!

(Our 2011 Christmas card)

Hopefully the events of yesterday evening (nail polish spilled on carpet, Logan slipping right over the edge of the tub while Emily and I were looking in the bathroom cabinet for peroxide and hairspray for the mess (he's ok) and Luke vomiting) will not determine what is in store for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!

spook

We had to say goodbye to our black cat Spook this week.  We knew the day was quickly approaching, but still sad nonetheless.  Probably back in September I had brought him in for what seemed to be an eye infection.  Both the vet and I noticed that his cheek looked swollen too.  We hoped some drops would take care of it, but it didn't.  It was a cancerous tumor that eventually took the whole left side of his face.  We'll miss him around here....Dave mostly, as Spook was his kitty for 13 years.

furry visitor

We have a winter break visitor!  Emily was able to bring her class pet, Candycorn the guinea pig, home until she goes back to school on the 3rd.  We decided to have him stay up in Emily's room since Stella is much too interested in the small creature.  Poor thing would have an 80 lb dog staring him down for the next 12 days.  It's been going well, despite there being wood shavings all over.  On Wednesday after school, there was lots of arguing over who can hold him, pet him, open his cage, feed him, look at him, talk about him, who has the most "authority" over him.  I'm surprised they didn't fight over who could breathe the same air!  Just too much excitement.  It's better now and hopefully Candycorn will enjoy his vacation!

Logan turns One!

Although we really didn't celebrate until he was 1 year and 1 week.  That's just the way it goes sometimes.  We can't believe it's already been a year.  He's such a joy, and to be honest, I feel sad he is getting older!  Every day I tell him not to get any bigger, but he doesn't listen.  We have all fallen head over heels in love with this little guy and enjoy him so much.  The kids fight over who gets to take a bath with him, who gets to hold him, who gets to play with him, etc.  I even get anxious for him to wake up!  I'm scared to death of him choking on something, he says "Hi" by making a raspberry sound at you, he loves to give High 5's, he's crawling, pulling up and going along furniture but no walking yet (although I did see him stand by himself for probably 10 seconds today!), I predict he'll be a 13 month walker like his big brother, he has a favorite book and will find the page with the dog if you ask him to, he's an impatient shopper, he loves yogurt, he'll be having his last "ba-ba" in the morning (formula can is darn near empty!), he's been drinking whole milk for about a month also, he sucks his thumb and twiddles his back hair when he's tired and as you are laying him down to sleep (sometimes he'll even start on the way up the stairs when he knows he's going to nap!), he sleeps 11-12 hours at night, he takes 2 naps if we're home or 1 in the afternoon if it's a busier day, he likes a "sucky" blanket in his crib (a small kind he can suck his thumb with), he goes to ECFE Thursday mornings and hangs out with Mommy and the other parents, once he starts walking he can separate and be in the other room with big brother (although I'm scared to death he'll choke on the big Goldfish!), he has 2 perfect little bottom teeth and 1 and a half little top, he loves books and turns the pages at a funny angle, he loves "wrestling" with big brother, he strangely loves when wind blows in his face, he is a maniac in the bathtub....up and down, crawling around, blowing bubbles on his belly, splashing, dumping water out, lots of drinks, he wears 18, 24 month and 2T clothes..it just depends, he wears about a size 5 shoe, we still aren't sure what color eyes he'll have, he has mastered Patty Cake but still doesn't catch on to So Big, he waves "Bye Bye" a few different ways, he signs All Done (which to him, is just opening and closing his hands rapidly), he inhales black beans, he melts your heart when he'll blow a kiss, loves talking to Dada when they both should be sleeping (darn truck drivers schedule), he will not keep socks on, he loves to be chased while he's crawling into the bathroom because he knows he shouldn't be, he learned how to crawl up stairs with watchful eyes and hands behind him, he loves when Dada feeds him ice cream, after Mama and Dada he trusts his Sister most- their relationship and bond is incredible.. she is so amazing with him.  If only time would stop every so often so we could savor this sweet baby longer!

A big thanks to the Arkansas Robison's for the fun baby piano for Logan's birthday...he loves it!  Buttons, spinners and music are right up his alley :)

Deeda came last weekend and brought Logan a Radio Flyer bumper car and some neat nesting cups.  He seems to really be coming around to the car as he was on it the other day and no one claims they put him there!

 Devouring a Mon Petite cupcake...

And then we gave him a little shot of whip cream from the pumpkin pie for good (messy) measure.  Unlike his brother, he seems to be a lover of creams in the whip form ;)

Happy Birthday Buddy!  Blow all the raspberries you want, you are only One once!  We love you!
