A preschoolers way of thinking

While they are fresh in my mind, Emily and I had a few funny conversations today....

We were at Menards and she spotted some 'Memorial' flowers on an endcap. Like the plastic ones you'd decorate a headstone with. She says "Hey, we should get Daddy some flowers!" I told her that I wasn't so sure Daddy would appreciate flowers like those ;)

On the way home, I was looking for a house that is for sale. A family that we know used to live there. I showed it to Emily and she asked if we were going to buy it. Before I could answer she says "Well, we better tell Daddy or he'll come home and not know where we are!" Like we're going to go home, pack up, and be out of our house by tonight! I love her logic at this age.

Running!

Luke's new favorite thing! Especially down the sidewalk towards the road. Yikes!

3 hour park adventure

Luke seems to be following suit with Emily and thinks that swinging is torture. Both my kids liked swinging as infants, but hate it as 1 year olds. Emily loved it again the following summer, so hopefully Luke will too!

(For reference...Emily at about 18/20 months)
The kids and I went over to the park by our house a few nights ago...we left at 4:30pm and came home after 7pm! Luckily, it didn't seem like 3 hours :) It was the first great evening to do this. Luke could walk around an open field for hours! (well, he did actually!) It was stocked full of kids to watch and play with.

2nd generation friends?

Luke and Noah. Libby and Emily.
Making 'projects.'

Is that what you'd call it? When we were up 'North' (as in anywhere North of Winona, lol) the kids and I went over to Clearwater to make a long overdue visit to see Katie and her family. We always talk about Libby and Reany, but Emily's only really met them a handful of times. It's so neat to see them bond so easily in such a short time. Katie and I have been friends for more than 20 years so it's so fun to see our kids playing together. And, it so happened that we each have girls about 6 months apart and now boys close to the same age too! Just another reason to live closer :)

Weekend at Nana and Papa's

Luke and Uncle Nathan
The kids and baby Maddy.
Chillin' with Papa

The kids and I went up to Cambridge a few weekends ago to visit Nana and Papa and get their pictures taken at Carlson's. We also had a 'Smith' get together with Cousin Kippy, Shannon and baby Maddy (who we got to meet for the first time!) as the special guests! It was great to see them since we didn't make it up for the benefit.

I want Spring!

Poor Luke. He's mad because it's April 1st and he still has to wear a winter jacket.

Mmmm, dog food.

I'm sure every kid eats dog food while they are little, so this probably comes as no surprise. Luke is always very determined to get to it too. Before he could walk really well, he'd walk to the edge of the dining room, and once he got to the kitchen, he'd start to crawl....really fast. And then the giggles started once he knew he was getting close to it. Now he just RUNS to it!
