Mid-Continent Railway

After some beach time at Devils Lake, we scurried over to North Freedom, WI (just outside of Baraboo a little bit) to catch the 3 pm (and last) train ride of the day at the Mid-Continent Railway.  We went on the hour long train ride, browsed the gift shop (excellent selections for the little train buffs) and checked out the train museum.  Fun for the boys, but probably the longest 2 hours of Emily's life :)

Devils chair....

There weren't many folks riding the train, but we happened to sit by one of the original conductors of the train, who now runs the train in the Little Amerricka amusement park in Marshall, WI.  Looks like a fun little amusement park to visit someday.  He had a ton of train stories and information, whether we wanted  them or not :)

Sitting in the high seats in the caboose...
At the end of the way down, you can get out and walk to the front to check out the engine and see it make it's way to the front to get us back to the station.

Coupling up... hang on!

We had run out of things to do that evening, so we headed into the Dells and spent a couple hours at the Deer Park.  Logan had never been, so why not!  How did I miss little gem of a place in North Freedom  http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g60145-d1176117-Reviews-Forevertron-North_Freedom_Wisconsin.html ?   I guess I really need to check the actual small towns we go to in Trip Advisor, not just the main destinations!
