South Dakota bound- Day 5 (6/12)

 On Thursday, our first morning at the cabin, we decided to do the 2 big Rapid City attractions, Reptile Gardens and Bear Country.  Both about 15-20 minutes away from the cabin.  Both were fun, but I think I'd give the edge to Bear Country.  But, I do like bears.

This is Maniac, who is apparently one of the largest saltwater crocs in captivity.

Someone started off the day tired... he was a trooper though!

I managed to come across a Reptile Gardens tshirt at the Salvation Army for Luke this spring... score!

There was a really fun playground and huge sandpit at Reptile Gardens.  Logan could have stayed in the sand all day!

The lady and 2 kids in the picture are actually from Winona also, small world!  Dave used to work with the Mr. at Fastenal.

The bird show was really interesting.  It's amazing how they are trained.

This chicken ran to the boy and took the money from his hand.

Right after Reptile Gardens, we went up the road a couple minutes to Bear Country, which is a drive through wildlife park with mostly bears.  Pretty neat.

Logan loved being in the front, free of his car seat!

As soon as we entered the bear area, we see this guy.  He's alive, I promise.

You drive the trail and then you park to walk around and see other animals, the gift shop, etc.

 Big, big grizzly... he was in his own large enclosure.

 Finally... the babies!

 After Bear Country, I believe this was the night we went into Rapid City to do some grocery shopping for the cabin.  There was some kind of festival downtown, plus construction, so it was a mess to get around. Went back to the cabin and the kids spent some time in the hot tub!
