peppers

 and corn!  Carol brought us over a dozen sweet corn from her sisters farm.  They were delish.  Luke had 4 and was very proud of that!   Speaking of Luke, we had his "meet the teacher" at school today.  He got to meet Mrs (Miss?) Katie and bring his supplies.  And meet the class pets of course.  Snakes and fish.  Perfect.  He is definitely ready to make that big jump to kindergarten!

 Someone told me about these Philly cooking cream cheese tubs once.  We've tried a garlic/chicken type one and it was good.  The other night we tried the recipe on this one.  Worked out great with the garden peppers.  Of course, it looked nothing like the picture on the front though...

Guess who loves to hang with the big kids on the big playset?  Luckily, if our eyes aren't completely focused on him, he yells to get my attention from about half way up the ladder.....Mommy!

Luke loves it when neighbor Shirley's lawn guy(s) come.  He was sitting out there the other day and Logan comes down and sits next to him.  Sunday morning we awoke to a sad sight...a For Sale sign on Shirley's house!  I know she's been having some medical issues and whatnot and wants to downsize.  It will be sad to see her leave when she does.  You can pick your friends, but not your neighbors!  It's nice to have good ones once in a while.

 Luke's last t-ball night was a rainy one.  When we got home, the sandbox truck was filled with water so the boys took advantage.  Luke was bending down and Logan dropped a big handful of mud right on his head!  Bath time was a sandy one.  Wait....aren't they all?

Did it work?  Looking back at a few videos, we sure have some cute ones of Luke as a toddler.  This is a favorite.  Hope it isn't a repeat!

haircuts {for all}

 Everyone went in for haircuts this week....Logan had his first!  He sat so well and was so darn cute during.  Ack!  That little face just kills me.  He went in a baby came out a big boy.  Sigh...

the gatherer

 The kids had lots of picking to do when they came home from Nana and Papa's.  The garden is starting to wind down some... the tomatoes aren't as good as they used to be, although there still is quite a few green ones left, so we'll see what we get.  Most have those pesky "rings" but still taste fine.  Surprisingly, the beans are finally doing really good.  I think these might be the last of the cucumbers.  Now we're just waiting on carrots, but I'm not expecting too much from them.  I'm sure we'll be digging out potatoes for another month or so too.  I think I have my garden planned for next year..... lots of tomatoes again (probably an additional plant of each, the kids loved the romas and having extras is always nice for sharing with neighbors), 5-6 pepper plants, snap peas, green beans, cucumbers (but maybe a different kind) and we'll try squash again.  Maybe zucchini for something different?  I won't try broccoli, cauliflower, beets, any lettuces/spinach (or maybe we could try a potted lettuce) or radishes.  And I'll likely skip carrots, depending on how they turn out now, and potatoes.  They just take up too much room.
