Sunday at Great Grandpa Homer's

Our Sunday in Iowa was spent visiting with some of the Robison's at Grandpa Homer's in Kalona. Well, Luke's wasn't. He was still sick so Dave and I took shifts to stay back with him. Poor guy. Grandpa lives in a 1 level apartment complex and has a nice community room to use. This was Emily's first time (since she was about 2 anyways) seeing her Aunt Hannah from Arkansas. She had so much fun with her! She's cool, she's old, but she's not that old :) Hannah gave Emily her email address, so they'll have to write to each other. Hopefully we'll see her again sooner rather than later!

Mmmm, it's naptime and Auntie Hannah has good hair to snuggle. He's such a hair snuggler.

Uncle Mark brought (and sauteed) a bunch of Morels. Yum.

saturday in kalona

Someone got a new toy at the Goodwill in Decorah!

Saturday morning we headed out to the local Amish shops and downtown Kalona. The weather wasn't as nice as we were hoping on Saturday and Sunday, some rain Saturday morning and storms on Sunday. First up was the Golden Delight Bakery.

(he's so darn quiet we're afraid we might leave him in the corner of an Amish bakery someday! :)

We got a little lesson on the "cat vs. bird" food chain order.

Then the Kalona Cheese Factory, or maybe House? I can't remember what they exactly call it. Either way, it's the home of Squeaky Cheese! (cheese curds that "squeak" when you chew them)






Next was Stringtown Grocery....
Emily says, "They only have 16 crayons!" We'd make terrible Amish people.

Picking out their bag of treats at Stringtown.... Emily thought she was going to get like 2 pounds of Red Hots.

Luke's first Wax Bottle. He gave them a thumbs up.

Then we roamed around the country roads to find the Community Country Store.
