$2 a tooth

The tooth fairy has been busy this month! Emily has had $24 burning a hole in her jewelry box, $20 birthday money and 2 tooth fairy pay outs. One trip to the mall took care of that, Claire's is a 7 year old girls dream store!

We should just rename him 'the snuggler.' He's so good at it. Not to jinx it, but our little 10 day old slept from midnight to 5:30am this morning!

Logan's first week!

Logan's first week at home was filled with cuddles, kisses and "pets" (as in Luke asking..."Can I pet the baby?") Wide eyed 3am hours, peekaboos with his big brother and even his first visit with Santa! He had his first check up and everything looks great. He was just 2oz. below his birth weight at 5 days old. According to the doctor, that's a great acheivement! He said that he is as active and alert as some 1 month olds. Maybe we have another genius on our hands ;) Stella loves giving the baby nudges, sniffs and little licks. We try and give her lots of opportunities to "greet" Logan. I think he's developed a "fussy" time, usually right after the big kids go to bed and before he settles for the night. Otherwise, he's letting me get a few hours here and there of sleep! We've made it out grocery shopping, Fleet Farm, Walgreens, ECFE and even Emily's school. Katie and Colleen came over on Tuesday and brought lunch and some cute Gymboree clothes for Logan, thanks guys! Oh, can't forget we survived our first snowstorm! Dave snowblowed and shoveled 2 or 3 times yesterday and now has to do it again today. Crazy. We have no idea where to put it all.

The birth...in pictures!

I'm finally getting a chance to get some pictures up of the birth and hospital stay. Of course, some have been edited for the blog, gotta keep some things private. And there is not a Stretch Mark Removal function on Picnik, sorry :) The kids had fun coming up several times and visiting with Deeda. Emily cannot get enough of Logan, she is quite a helper around here. It's pretty great. I joke with her that he won't know who his mommy is!

Luke's first impression?

Emily's first babysitting job. She stayed and held Logan while Dave and I had our "celebration dinner" at the hospital Friday night.

The wait is over!

Here's what we've been preparing for the past few weeks....Logan Thomas! Logan was born early Friday morning at 1:24am. Last Friday I had an ultrasound to check his position since he seemed to flip flop up and down. He was definitely breech and only 5 days before my due date. So, we scheduled an appointment with one of the OB's to talk external version procedures (turning him from the outside) and c-sections. Checked the heartbeat and it was found up high again, assuming he was still head up. I had an ultrasound to check my water level since you need to have a good amount for the version procedure and instead, he was head down! This being 2 days before my due date, my midwife said she'd let me go a few days to see if anything would happen, but really didn't want to see me go past Thursday since he's a mover. We scheduled an appointment for Thursday morning, she rechecked things and sent me over to get admitted! We started Pitocin around 1pm, things progressed pretty slowly, I was only around 2-3 cm dialated around supper time. My midwife came over after clinic hours and broke my water. Contractions started to happen more regularly, but they weren't too intense. By around 11pm, they were horrible and very frequent. Almost right on top of each other. They checked me again around 12:45am and I was only around 6-7cm dialated. Thinking I had a long night ahead of me, I was going to give in to an epidural. This was 100x harder than my other 2 labors. They called for an anesthesiologist to come up, but he was too late, Logan was crowning as he was walking through the door. Around 1:15am I had 2 contractions where I needed to push, tried to breathe through them since my midwife wasn't even there yet, but couldn't. They called for a doctor to come up from the ER, but Logan didn't wait. He was born in the arms of my nurse. He came out a spittin' image of Luke, it was almost deja vu like. Except he was exactly a pound smaller, 8lbs 10oz and 20" long. So seemingly small compared to Luke! And with brown hair. He is a perfect little guy, nurses like a champ, only fusses when he wants to eat, and his big brother and sister are loving him to pieces. The kids are glad we're home and hopefully things can resume back to normal shortly. Just one picture for now, I'll have to go through them this week and see what else we got!
