it's a big day today at our house! Emily is officially 4 and a half years old today and Luke is 15 months today. Let's see...what are they up to these days? Emily is still very interested in reading and writing and just books in general, which is great! Plus, she still has 1 more year of preschool so she should be ahead of the game when she starts K. Now she just needs to ride a bike without training wheels and tie her own shoes and she won't be my baby anymore! And speaking of school, Dave and I are kicking around the option of sending her to St. Mary's Catholic school, yep, a Catholic school. Who would have thought? Let's just say I'm more sold than Dave is at the moment. We have another year to check out the details, but it's the best that Winona has to offer, so....
Emily continues to be the best big sister a little brother could ask for and the best daughter a Mommy could ask for. She's always very concerned about his safety and well being, what a gal! She loves to be outside riding her numerous bikes, trikes and scooter, writing with sidewalk chalk, digging for worms and other treasures (our yard has lots of good stuff burried in it I guess!), picking dandelions, jumping rope, hula-hooping (is hooping a word?), going to the neighborhood park and walking around the block visiting all the neighbors dogs and cats. She'll finish up her second year of preschool this month and ECFE classes will also end soon for the year. But, her summer will be packed full of fun! So far she's going to Y camp and Park & Rec camp in June, another Park & Rec camp in July (hey, you can't beat $21 for a weeks worth of morning nature filled childcare, right?), a week up at Gull Lake in August, Tuesday morning summer storytime at the library and a playdate after with her friend Bridget from ECFE, and we purchased a season pass for the aquatic center. Plus a week or 2 visiting Deeda, Nana and Papa, and Uncle Nathan and Erica! Whew!
Luke on the other hand....no, just kidding, he's a great kid too! It's so fun watching him. Like seriously, just watching him. He's such an animated kid with a gallery of facial expressions that will make the most serious of people giggle and smile. He still has just the 6 teeth (4 on top, 2 on bottom) and is saying a few words...Dada, Mama, Sis, Woof-Woof (what pretty much anything with fur says) and nigh-nigh. So far, he seems to be 'all boy' as in loves dirt, cars and trucks. He instinctively made car and truck sounds at around 10 months, so of course, we were proud :) His other interests are drinking fountains, dogs and cats, walking around with phones or shovels, brooms, hats (but not wearing them of course), the yard pinwheels, pinecones, bananas, and running on the sidewalk. His big blue eyes are gorgeous and yes, we will be growing out his hair as long as possible ;) If only he'd sleep better....

I think she was surprising herself with how good she was doing! Bob and the Beachcombers were performing. They come to Winona a few times throughout the summer, the kids love them! They are a mix of The Wiggles and The Beach Boys :)

Watching the very start of the fireworks...it started raining about 2 minutes into it so since we walked, we had to get moving! Luckily we could see and hear them almost the whole way home.
